OUR ROSSILLON ACCOMMODATION

When it comes to where to locate yourself in Roussillon you have four main choices:

1. Mediterranean coast towns such as Perpignan, or resorts like Collioure or Cerbere.

2. Valleys vineyard settlements start at Rivesaltes, and work their way up through Maury to St. Paul-de-Fenouillet.

3. Mountain villages such as Fenouillet, St. Martin-de-Fenouillet and Cucugnan.

4. Inland towns like Quillan and Prades.

We choose the village of Fenouillet. You go to such a place if you want wooded hills, mountain streams, huge vistas, Cathar castle ruins. It is different to much of France with a remote wild feeling of being in brooding mountains.

The building is narrow and the La Petite Maison is on the top two floors with direct entry from the right side path. The top floor bedroom is light and airy with great views from the terrace. A great spot to enjoy morning coffee. Location Nearest shops are 3 miles away in Caudies de Fenouilledes. Here there is a butcher, baker, tabac, mini-supermarket, chemist and post office. Also a lively bar and two restaurants. Within a 15 minute drive is St Paul with a large supermarket, garage, shops and restaurants plus a Saturday market. 25 minutes west is the pretty market town of Quillan which is bustling with restaurants, shops, bars and a large supermarket complex. There is a market here every Wednesday and Saturday.
