The display and wine education facilities at the cave at La Maison des Vins de Duras are excellent and most certainly worth a visit. The range of wines is totally representative of the Duras wine region and of a high quality. The tastings available vary from day to day with different producers being featured. Reviewed: Domaine St. Nazaire Sauvignon Blanc 2007 12.5% alc 3.60€ In the glass a light yellow with a very aromatic nose of oranges while the palate has tones of tropical fruit, acacia and lychees. The finish is clean and off-dry. Drink now and enjoy with seafood and shellfish. Domaine de Lamonthe Cotes de Duras 200513% alc 3.30€ A blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc from 25 year old vines that was fermeted and matured in stainless steel tanks. In the glass a deep red with a nose of tobacco and spices. The palate is complex and long with tones of ripe fruit and good smooth tannins that leave a pleasant after taste. Ready to drink and great with red meats and cheeses. Domaine du Vieux Bourg Rouge 2005 12.5% alc. 10.00€ A blend of hand-picked grapes from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot that was matured in small oak barrels. A deep red colour with bright flashes. A nose of red fruit and wild herbs while the palate is of raspberries, black cherries, oak and old leather. A long finish of of ripe berry fruits that make it ideal to drink with lamb and veal.

Vigneron Indepedendant members the are envolved in all aspects from growing to marketing. The vineyard is mainly Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris grapes with production in a on-site winery that enbraces tradional methods along with modern technology. The cave is pleasant and inviting with a warm welcome. Reviewed: Chateau Molhiere Sauvignon Blanc 2007 12.5% alc. 5.00 € In the glass a light yellow with green flashes. A nose of ripe stone fruits while the palate abounds with ripe gooseberries and acacia tones. A excellent food wine to serve with seafood, shell fish and fish. Chateau Moilhere Sauvignon Blanc 2005 oak aged 13.5% alc. 8.00 € This wine continues to impress with a golden yellow colour in the glass and a nose of yeast, oak and tropical fruits. On the palate there are delightful tones of pineapples, lycees, and bananas with mineral and shortbread flavours. A clean fresh and yet lingering finish. Chateau Molhiere Terrior des Duras 2005 13% alc. 5.00 € A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a deep red wine with a nose of ripe red fruit and old leather. The palate is of ripe black currants, cherries and plums with good tannins and a smooth finish. This is a ready to drink rouge that will be great with red meats.

Reviewed: BLANCS Chater Dry White Sauvignon Blanc 2005 13.5% 6.00€ Light yellow in the glass with a nose of citrus fruit and yeast. On the palate it hits you with tropical fruit s and an aftertaste of shortbread and leaves with a clean fresh finish. A great Sauvy to enjoy with seafood, fish and poultry. Chater Oak aged Sauvignon Blanc 200412% 10.00€ A lovely hue of yellow and green in the glass with a nose of honeysuckle and other floral aromas. On the palate you have fresh citrus with oaky tones and you are left with a refreshing pleasant after-taste. This is a different SB with a character that will appeal to a lot of wine drinkers - you have to try it for yourself! Chater Oak Rose 2005 13% 5.00€ This is different to any other Rose that you have drunk! When I first tried it away from the winery I was struck by the colour a good red but bright and clear; the nose of really fresh strawberries and the taste of fresh summer berry fruits. My immediate comment was that this wine would win golds in most wine competitions. And when I visited the winery I found that it had won 10 awards including 4 Golds! ROUGES Chater Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 200413% 6.00€ 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes giving a wine with a deep- red colour. 9% in new oak has resulted in a nose of spicy earthy tones while the palate has the complexity of the grape blend along with spicy red currant tastes. A meaty wine with good length and structure. A wine you could drink everyday with red meats and cheeses. Chater Cabernet Sauvignon 200513.5% 7.50€ 2005 did wonders for Cabernet Sauvignon with lots of sun and great ripening conditions. The result a wine that is purple/deep red in the glass and a palate that is full of ripe red fruit flavours and good tannins along with a pleasant long structure and after-taste. A wine to drink now of cellar for years - excellent. Chater Oak-aged Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 14% 15.00€ When you carefully select and hand-pick 60% of ripe Merlot and 40% of equally good Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, vinified then with passion and expertise, put them to develop in new oak, then bottle them when they are at their best you must get a flagship wine and this one is no exception. A complex palate, great ripe fruit flavours, rounded tannins and a structure you have a wine that will reward careful cellaring - drink in 2012 and beyond for a wonderful experience!
