The information focuses on:

  • Vineyards and Wineries with a reasonable level of English communication
  • Developing knowledge of the regional grape varieties & wines produced
  • Local produce markets & shopping for French products

Kerry and Anne Guy

Kerry Guy
Kerry brings a passion for wine being a viticulturist and winemaker. He has visited vineyards in France plus USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Italy. He has a love for wine and the skill of the winemaker with a well-developed palate that appreciates and enjoys all wine from the dry flinty white wines to delicious sweet dessert wines of France, and everything in-between!

Kerry on WINE TOURS
Today it is rare to find a "bad" wine, but, thankfully, you can find a whole range of different and regional wine styles. Despite global pressures to dumb down the wine consumers, individual wine makers all over France, with typical French resolve, continue to produce distinctive wines that reflect the "terroir" and regional characteristics.
So if you just want to drink wine that is targetting the masses then head to your nearest supermarket. You will find shelves of wine for you enjoyment. BUT, if you want to experience the true flavour of French wines surrounded by the actual vines, if you want to talk to the people who have nurtured those vines season after season, to meet the winemaker who has crafted a true and honest product from those grapes, carefully managed the wine through a complex process to the final presented bottle; then you must travel!

Anne Guy
A background in food Technology and cookery teacher, Anne has published several textbooks on food. As well she has been a director of a travel company and performed numerous hotel and resort evaluations so is ideal qualified to comment of the standard of accommodation on offer. Her saying is that she does not recommend any bed that she has not slept in or at least sat on!

Anne on WINE TOURS
I have toured the wine regions of France with Kerry from the north to the Spanish border. My opinion is that you will find enjoyable wines, be they red, rose, white, dessert, sparkling or fortified in almost every wine region. My recommendation is to pick on one region, select a pleasant base with good road access and settle in for anywhere from one to three weeks. Enjoy the scenery, the sights, the wine, food, cuisine and above all the French way of life and the culture. In my book there is little satisfaction in driving for hours on motorways just to say that you have been to x number of wine regions.
STAY PUT & ENJOY!
